Gratitude Day 22: Blogging!

Tue 22 September 2026

Just a quick one today, because it's nearly midnight, and I'm tired. XD

I was planning to write a post at some point entitled "Blogging is a bit schlock, and that's ok!" but I guess I'm going to write it now, very briefly and off-the-cuff before I fall into my bed and give up the ghost for a few hours. I suppose that's apropos, then, this post being somewhat meta-schlock. 😄

I've really enjoyed the blogging challenges this year, like Junited, the July Reply, and now this September Gratitude theme.

Blogging has been a great way to keep priming the pump of creative endeavor and hone the craft of writing. I always thought I'd get into writing via short stories (especially Science Fiction and fanfiction), but just blogging about totally random things that are of interest to me has been a real blast. I've had so many neat interactions with people in the "blogsophere" and other writers on the wonderful Fediverse.

Especially now that I'm writing a blog post every day for the month of September, I'm reminded a lot of Jonathan Mann and how he used to introduce his channel. He basically said that he has written, performed, and published (on YouTube) a song every single day since 2009, and some of them were great, some of them were crap, and a lot of them were just ok.

Blogging is like that. Not every post is going to be a masterpiece. Very few of them will be. Some of them will be total crap! And the rest might be of some entertainment or informative use to someone else, or they might simply be the stone on which you sharpen your craft.

Blogging is a bit schlock.

And that is okay.

Stay bloggy, my friends. 🧐
