A September Theme: 30 Days of Gratitude

Tue 01 September 2026

This morning, I briefly skimmed through a post Robert Birming blog entitled "SepThemeBear - create your own theme."

When I say skimmed, I don't think I read much more than the title, honestly. I was on my phone, and reading on my phone is not an enjoyable experience for me, as I don't carry reading glasses with me everywhere. I'm not ready to be THAT heckin' old, dang it!

So, while the post was talking about developing/tweaking a new CSS theme (likely for Bear blog, hence the "bear" in the name 😅) for the month of September, my mind went to "themes" in the literary sense.
So, I thought, "Yeah! Pick my own theme for September! I love it!"

Of course, I now know he was talking about web/CSS themes, but I must say I'm not much of a CSS jockey. I learned web technologies literally thirty years ago, when CSS when still a glint in Sir Tim's eye. Also, I have tweaked my Pelican theme a fair bit, modifying the terrible stock <pre> color theme that ships with the tuxlite_zf, and customizing the monospace font (but it's not embedded, so you either get the font I specified or your browser's default font if it's not installed. Consider it a kind of lazy-web easter egg 😄).

As of time of writing, Robert's post is 404-ing, so I'm hoping that it will come back at some point.

So, it is my intention to write a post every day for the month of September (including today, and not including this post) on the subject of Gratitude.

The reason for this is quite simple: I'm hella negative, fam. Call it being redpilled on privacy, tech, and, yeah, politics to some degree; call it neurospicy connections-making disillusionment with the world, call it 2026 going hard after dystopian ideals... it's really dark out there.

You can think me a Pollyanna for wanting to look for the silver lining in the massive storm cloud of crap currently pummelling us, but I think it's important to find something to be thankful for in the midst of the madness.

So, that's the last bit of negativity for the rest of the month on this blog.

On to the gratitude!!
